KING’S Lynn climbed to second position in the table with a fifth straight SGB Premiership victory at Somerset on Friday.
The Stars, who had been victims of circumstance in their heavy KO Cup home defeat to Wolverhampton 48 hours earlier, collected all four points from their visit to the Oaktree Arena thanks to a 49-41 victory.
It reinforced the Highbridge venue as their happiest hunting ground on the road as it was their second Premiership win there this season following their Pairs triumph in March.
Flying reserve Kai Hukenbeck racked up a best-yet 13+2 for the Stars with Chris Holder defying the pain of a Heat 11 crash to add 12+1 in the No.1 berth, with Troy Batchelor picking up 10.
Holder won Heat 15 ahead of the Rebels’ top two Richard Lawson (12+1) and Josh Grajczonek (10) to ensure maximum points for the visitors.
He said: “Wednesday was always going to be tough with us missing key riders against Wolves. We were up against it and they have a really solid team but we knew we had to regroup after that.
“Hopefully, we won’t lose too many more at home and picking up away wins like this makes life that bit easier.”
Somerset boss Garry May said: “We were on the back foot right from the off and when a team like King’s Lynn with their top-end strength get their noses in front, they are always going to be difficult to close down.
“Despite their best efforts, the boys, Richard and Josh apart, were unable to find any sort of consistency with which we could threaten King’s Lynn, especially with Huckenbeck putting in a match-winning performance for them from reserve.”
